Why do you put an "s" in sugars?Updated 5 months ago

The legal denomination concerning carbohydrates as well as the nutritional codes in force define sugar in the singular, as table sugar, otherwise known as sucrose, and only as such. Sugars in the plural designate all simple sugars including those in fruit (glucose, fructose, lactose, maltose, galactose). Thus our squares contain less than 1 gram of sugars per portion, that is to say less than 1 gram of simple sugars.
